Back to {In Person} School is Happening! Time to Organize!
Though we’re still in the midst of masks and distancing because of Covid, it sounds like the kiddos are heading back to school, at least for now. So it’s time to buckle down and get organized. There’s one room in our house that gets use day in and day out and that’s our mudroom/laundry room.
I’ve teamed up with some pretty amazing bloggers to get you all ready for school with organizational tips and tricks! At the end of this post, make sure you click on the other accounts to check out their amazing ideas!
Trying to keep anything organized during the school year and fall sports is hard but doing it in a space that gets lots of love and traffic, constantly, is TOUGH! I have, though, found with kiddos, if they know where to put things, 5 times out of 10, they might just do it right. I’m not giving up.
Our bag drop off is a life saver. Backpacks will go on the hooks, off the floor, and below the hooks is an awesome storage bench from Ikea.
The bench is so large I was able to put three storage bins inside. One is for sports uniforms, one for the never-ending hats and the other for swim towels.
I guess I should also mention Ikea is my saving grace when it comes to keeping everyone organized and also for keeping my sanity. I like sunglasses…like a lot. I kind of sort of have passed that love on to my kids too which my husband is super excited about . I did, however, find the perfect way to store all of them. these little storage bins hang perfectly on a magnetic bar that conveniently hangs on the side of the washing machine, right by the door, leading to the garage.
On the wall opposite our door, we used another favorite Ikea storage solution, their four compartment shoe storage. There are always lots of little things that seem to get lost in the shuffle so instead of using this piece for shoes, we use it for goggles, shin guards, nut cups (yes, I have boys), sunblock, and all the other awesome things associated with sports and kiddos.
Aaaand….since we are still dealing with Covid, I keep clean masks and hand sanitizer on top of the cabinet for quick access as well as the doggie bags because three dogs requires a whole pile of them.
So here’s hoping for a year where all the kids stay in school, an organized muddroom and the passing of this crazy Covid.. If you’re up for a quick jaunt down memory lane, visit my post from this time last year on my solutions for at home learning. Lets just hope it stays a memory….
