It's A Colorful Life || 2020 Fall Home Tour Covid Style
It’s Time for the Fall 2020 It’s A Colorful Life Home Tour!
Transitioning to fall this year seems even more important because of how long the past 6 months have felt. I’m so ready to have cooler temperatures, cozier spaces and the holidays to look forward to. Cooler weather also gives me an excuse to spruce up a few areas in our home too!
A big thank you to Jennifer from Dimples and Tangles and Jewel from Jeweled Interiors for taking the reins and hosting and planning this amazing fall tour! I’m excited to join a group of extremely talented ladies this week who are all showing their homes in all its fall splendor! Make sure to check out the full list of women participating at the end of my post.
Today I’m excited to be featured with some talented ladies to show you our fall ready homes. One of whom is Katherine at Pender and Peony . Make sure you check out her beautiful home.

Fall Home Tour || Living Room
The first room I always tackle when switching decor for the seasons is my living room. Because my Woodland Animal Tufted rug is still pretty new, I decided to do a light makeover by switching out pillows, lamps, coffee table decor and adding a fantastic new piece of art. I’ll take any chance I can get to pull in richer color tones like oranges and greens into my home decor and Fall is the perfect backdrop for those color changes.
Let me introduce you to my newest friend, Leo the Lion. This beautiful lamp came from my dear friend, Willow, who owns the shop Urban Redeux . I knew as soon as she posted Leo on her Instagram feed that he had to come live with me. He spent the first month staring at me in my office until he found his forever home in our living room. I love when the morning sun makes his gold coat shine! It’s the little things, am I right?
Buying pillow slipcovers allows me to be able to switch out my pillow designs by season because they are SOOO much easier to store vs. tons and tons of pillows. All of these slipcovers easily store in the closet in my office which makes the switchout a breeze. I’m also having a ginger jar/blue and white/chinoiserie moment in all of my decor and even with my Toteable Tablscapes designs so be prepared to see glimpses of those combinations throughout this tour.
Can we talk about the show stopper of my living room? This gorgeous piece of artwork from Urban Garden Prints called Peacock on the Green is breathtaking! Started by sisters Taylor and Marty, Urban Garden Prints feature a collection from nature of stunning, soft, neutral art as well as vibrant pops of color. Up close this print looks like it was made from a fine linen cloth. Keep reading for more of their artwork featured in my fall tour.

Fall Home Tour || Entryway
Our entryway gets lots and lots of love from my speedy dogs and boys so I try my best to keep it mostly clear of objects that might come in harms way. The one part I did change up this fall was the artwork leading up our stairs. This has always been a problem area and really was ignored until just recently. When I saw the Vintage Bird Trio from Urban Garden Prints I knew it would be the perfect solution for our stairwell. I decided to mix things up a bit and ordered two prints in 24x36 and the third in 18x24 which is the one at the very top of our stairs. I then ordered them in each of their blue colors and went from lightest to darkest when I hung them. I absolutely love love love these pieces of art and another, totally unexpected win, is that my husband loves them too! Always nice when that happens!
The details in the artwork is what makes it so unique! Everyone who has seen this trio loves it!
Fall Home Tour || DIning Room
I continued my current obsession of blue and white, ginger jars and orange into the dining room with my fall tablescape. If you know me then you know I’m all about layers, textures and pattern mixing when it comes to creating seasonal tablescapes. I love it so much I created a company Toteable Tablescapes with my sister so you all can easily purchase beautifully curated tables all put together and ready to go. Just add food! Head on over to see our newest options that are being added weekly for the upcoming holiday seasons!
Add in some gold and you’ve got yourself a festive table for any upcoming fall event! These are all colors that can also transition to Christmas with a few quick switches.
Fall Home Tour || Breakfast Nook
The very first thing we did when we bought our house was to build this breakfast nook in our kitchen. This is the heart of our home which also means it gets lots and lots of use. Instead of paying to have cushions reupholstered professionally every few months, I take the super easy path and instead recover the cushions myself securing them on the bottom of the cushions with (no judging!) duct tape! I know, I know, you’re still judging me but until you have disgusting boys wiping their hands on the cushions or dropping messy food on them, you won’t understand the need for a quick fix.
I found this fun fabric on Etsy from Shop my Fabrics. I love how it pulls in the greens, pinks and oranges, but in darker hues. Perfect for a fall transition.
Fall Home Tour || Work and School Spaces
Our school system, as of now, is all virtual and my husband is working from home for the foreseeable future which meant fall brought on a need for new work space areas for he and my two boys.
I opted to go for more of a masculine look when I took an extra guest bedroom that was lovingly dubbed “the weekend room” and turned it into his office. Dark wood colors, blues and greens mixed in with vintage items from his family made it into a comfortable work space. Lets be honest, he also uses it to play his flight simulator game, probably even during office hours.
We added a small workspace for Henry in my office so I can keep an eye on him. If you watch my insta stories you know he likes to occupy his time during virtual school trying to get away and climb things or run outdoors or grab a snack.
Henry requested bright colors with a galaxy theme. I think we nailed it! This is also the first time I followed his lead in designing his space. We make a great team!
Oliver already had a desk in his room so we made some quick and easy additions to his work area so he could have all of his necessary items for school easily handy.
I hope you enjoyed my fall home tour! Don’t forget to follow along as we redo our outdoor space for the FALL 2020 One Room Challenge. My week 2 update will be up on the blog this Thursday!
